It was a busy week, but like always, it flew by. Baby K went through another “clingy” phase that seems to be on its way out, but as my grandmother reminded me, she’s not even 3 months old yet 🙂 And to be honest, her clingy days are SO much easier for me now that I a) know that this does not mean something is terribly wrong with her and b) next year she won’t need/want me as much. Every day she gets bigger and smarter, and doesn’t need me nearly as much.
Even sleep is getting easier. Like the other night I set her down so I could take my contacts out and brush my teeth. Instead of wailing like she would have early on, she tossed around a little, and a couple minutes later was fast asleep. No help from me at all. Of course, not every night is that easy but we have a little routine that we do, and she generally knows at that point it’s bedtime.
We did push it a little bit on Halloween night (hey, it’s a holiday!) and went out with some friends to do trick or treating on Ledgelawn. It was my first year ever doing it, and of course Baby K slept through the whole thing, but it was so fun to see all the kiddos in their costumes (and grown ups, too). And next year she’ll be old enough to run/waddle around! I can’t wait to see what she’ll want to dress up as over the years 🙂
I finished my first month of Insanity Max 30. Combined with running 3 days a week (usually totaling around 15 miles), I’m down another 5 lbs and am 12 lbs away from pre-pregnancy weight. This is without any sort of meal “plan”- generally I try to eat more protein and do some vegetables/fruit, but I’ve also been eating a lot of bacon and bacon grease potatoes. Next month my goal is to focus more on meals and nutrition, or at least eat more fruits/veggies like I was pre-pregnancy.
Speaking of, I recently discovered that kale cooked in bacon grease is actually the best way to eat kale (and pretty much entirely defeats the purpose of eating kale in the first place). Maybe it’s a good introductory way to eat kale, like “Here’s a food you don’t think you’ll like, but it tastes a little like bacon so you can get used to it first.” Weaning off the bacon grease might be tough, though…
Have you ever tried kale cooked in bacon grease (or with bacon)?
What was your Halloween costume?
