Okay, not really, but I will admit it has been over a week since my last post which is pretty bad. We got about three feet of snow over the course of a week (with 3-4 storms). The first started last Thursday, and the most recent ended this Thursday. Here are a few highlights from the week:
Last Saturday we had a “mini” snow storm (about 5-7 inches) before Sunday/Monday’s blizzard. I was scheduled to run 15 miles, which I was already unsure of because I haven’t run that far since August. Managed to get 11 miles outside (they were slow, I was running on about half an inch of powder the whole time) and the last 4 on the treadmill at the Y.
That night, we had a birthday gathering for one of my friends (SO MUCH FOOD). We have an ongoing joke about “food commas” (yes, with two m’s) because one night when I was very tired we were all eating nachos and I mentioned going into a “Food comma,” and it’s one of those things that just stuck.
This friend had also just returned from a trip to Savannah and brought back a bunch of taffy 🙂
Sunday I got up extra early and headed Downeast. Since there was a blizzard on the way, I decided to stay with my mom until Tuesday. This was perfect because a) in true mom fashion, she had way too much good food, and b) she has a treadmill so I wouldn’t have to miss running for 2-3 days.
First, I made some Valentine’s Day no-bake cookies for my boyfriend and left some for my dad, who was at work all weekend (no-bakes are his favorite). They weren’t very photogenic, but I did the right thing and taste-tested 🙂
Sunday night, after a 5 mile treadmill run and an easy spin on the bike (which definitely felt good on achy post-15 mile legs), Mom and I watched Finding Dory. I only cried three times…And it was a nice reprieve from the binge watching of The People vs. OJ Simpson. I was only 4 to 5 when that was all happening, so I thought the series was very interesting.
Monday we got well over a foot of snow! I stayed inside and worked from home, after running another 5 on the treadmill and walking/biking throughout the day. Mom had to do most of the shoveling, because I’m not supposed to shovel right now…
Tuesday was Valentines Day!! I’m not into the commercial aspect of the holiday, but love a chance to show my people that I care, so it’s always been enjoyable for me. Maybe not in middle school. Also, the reason I can’t shovel/cried a lot during Finding Dory:
I’m having a baby!!! The announcement was made on Valentine’s Day (family and a few friends knew already), and Baby Z is due August 17th. I cried at the first ultrasound back in January when we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. We won’t find out if it’s a boy or girl for a little while, but I am so excited I will be thrilled either way 🙂
Incidentally, this is also why my running looks a bit different than it has in the past- my hips and back are starting to feel the pressure and my gait has changed, forcing me to run slower (I may still feel like I’m putting in an 8 min/mile effort, but the watch begs to differ).
Just a look at where I ran on Wednesday- another 5 miler (Tuesday I ran 7).
Thursday was my boyfriend’s birthday. He doesn’t like to do anything huge, but I did run out and grab him a breakfast sandwich, a bottle of wine, and some cake (of course!). And I got him a “Papa Bear” mason jar mug, which I’ll have to grab a picture of for next time. It was a fairly relaxed day, except that he had to shovel the driveway by himself :/ Sorry!!
I hope everyone had a good week, and in case you need it, remember:
Do you have any inside jokes with your friends that don’t make sense?
Any big news or Valentines Day fun?
How about this SNOW??
